BVI

February 25...Leaving Maho Bay and going across to Jost Van Dyke to check in.  We will lose our Internet connection sometime on the trip across as we will lose our US, AT&T connection. Plan to go to Brewers Bay on Tortolla for overnight stay. Lovely bay with no boats usually, well maybe one. Downside may be the north swells and if that is the case, we will move on. Upside is, anchoring allowed, therefore no charge!
Decided to leave Jost and go on to Trellis. A good trip!
February 26...A taxi, no bus available, to Roadtown this morning for Digicel top up. Walked around to see the new cruise ship dock. Not complete yet but obviously they want to compete with Charlotte Amalie. Hailed a taxi from Trellis for 10 dollars and back cost us 22. At least we got here.
Just waiting for Dave at the Loose Mongoose which is much improved. New dinghy dock and outdoor patio! Quite nice.

Spent the evening on board, took garbage in this morning, main sail cover off and started the sail to Anegada. Arrived in good time and anchored just west off Palmato Point. Just gorgeous! A 60 foot ketch flying a Finnish flag came in shortly after we anchored quite far out but in the distance we can see Virgin Gorda, Jost and Tortola. 

Long two hour walk on the beach from PalmatoPoint to Keel Bay. Beach is just gorgeous and easy walking. PARADISE! Winds picked up and swells got a bit higher on my return. Dinner on boat and a rocky rolly night. Decided to move to the main anchorage for lobster dinner tonight at Potters on the Sea. Sam the chef came out to our boat and his personality made us want to eat at his place.

Watched some people come in to anchorage and notice who is doing the work. A down side today, lost my 2015 St Maarten Heineken regatta hat. Peter was going to save it but decided it would be long gone before he had a chance to dinghy to it. Oh well!

Lobster delicious last night at Potters. Today, February 29, we took the free shuttle offered by the Lobster Trap to new place on the north side of the island, Anegada Beach Club. Really neat! They have tents on shore like they have in the South Pacific. More heaven!

And they have kite boarding lessons as well at the Beach Club!

Tomorrow off to Jost to the Bubbly Pool. Will be trying the Diamond Key special at Foxys Taboo!

A gorgeous sail to Diamond Cay...all sails up, no motor. Bubbly was not the best but saw some feeding goats. Tried the special Diamond Cay that Emily had but the bartender wasn't there who made hers and unfortunately not as good! Oh well.

March 4...Spent two nights anchored at Cane Garden Bay. Yesterday made a trip to the old Caldwell rum factory, drinks on the beach where we met people from Tiny, watched the fishermen bringing in their nets, and drinks at the famous Quitos. Good conch appetizer, perhaps best so far!

Spent the evening at Great Harbour, Peter Island right by the restaurant, Oceans. They have added lots of mooring balls in this bay since the last time we were there. Happy hour was pricy but the swimming and snokelling pretty good. Very clear water. Lots of charter boats there with the intention of leaving to go back to Roadtown early in the morning. A much better place than the Bight at Norman to stay over.

On our way to Savannah on Virgin Gorda for a lunch stop. Absolutely gorgeous. Out of bounds for charter folk. Would love to spend the night but have been warned that if the north swells come in, I am not to complain. So it will be off to Mosquito behind the reef and we will say hi to Richard Branson!

March 6...So we ended up at anchorage just off Prickly Pear. This morning off to the beach and look at all the empty beach chairs!  Nice beach, good water, bar and free! Mooring balls are available here as well but let's save the 30 dollars so we can have drinks at Saba Rock and enjoy the views.

March 8...Again Saba Rock views just gorgeous. Lovely to sit at. Helicopter flew in on such a small landing pad. Gorgeous swimming at Prickly, water very clear and had to chance to clean the hull. Went on a boat tour of new marina, Esmeralda, and then on to the reef at Mosquito. Mooring ball at Leverick. Good job we got there fairly early as they went quick! This morning filled up with free water and our free bag of ice (mooring fee covers that) and headed out. Just a bit windy, rolly, swelly and rainy but no snow and we are in shorts and bathing suits. Last night a trip up to Hog Heaven where again the views are gorgeous, food great and a must for all to visit. Taxi ride is 10 dollars return per person. No way you could walk!.

USVIs

Arrived in Charlotte Amalie for the next afternoons flight to Toronto for Emily. Up the 99 plus steps to Blackbeards Castle to find it closed once again. A nice early lunch at Amick for Caesar salad and pizza with arugula and prosciutto.
A grocery shop late in the afternoon and tomorrow laundry and off to Brewers.
As we pulled anchor, we had additional chain from the bottom of the anchorage attached to our anchor. I could not get it off so Peter came to the bow with boat hook and in the process of trying to remove and save the big chain, lost the boat hook for good. It is now at the bottom of the anchorage!
We arrived safely at Brewers and will stay put today with some water activities!

February  15...A not so nice day at Brewers. Actually for three days now it has been cloudy in the morning but in the afternoon sun has appeared. This has been the worst day with rain but still hoping to get off the boat for a walk.

February 17...Have decided to stay in Brewers for a while longer. It is pleasant and a short bus ride to town. Yesterday we met up with Lisa and Tom who were on the Norweigian Escape and had drinks at The Fat Turtle. It was fun and nice to see them. Today a nice morning and will spend some time tidying and doing boat jobs and perhaps walk to the university to find the laundry and cafeteria. Excitement plus!

February 19

So calm today and the water is crystal clear. Just gorgeous. Even braved the water for quite a long swim. It feels good to be alive!

February  22...We went into town yesterday and walked around French Town. Pretty quaint with streets running every which way. Peter had never been there. A number of boats were anchored at Hassel Island. Lunch was at Hook, Line and Sinker, a complete meal. French Town is where the CyOc Yacht charters are located. 

Evening was a pot luck barbq on the beach organized by Leslie and Carl, which was fun and we got to meet others who were anchored in the bay. Today off to Long Bay in Charlotte Amalie for laundry and restocking  for necessities....fuel, water, food and other stuff!

February 24...Sitting in Maho next to Francis Bay for the past two nights. Off to Jost Van Dyke tomorrow to check in once again. Spent a quiet day today with time at the beach. Yesterday we noticed lots of boats in Francis and none in Maho. Today completely opposite.....go figure. Still can't figure why the mooring fees in the Park here have been increased....perhaps they are looking at the charter business and figure if BVIs can do 30 dollars then 26 sounds like a deal! We do notice quite a few charter boats here.......
